The villages where we have a presence often don’t have any space available for community members to gather. Our centres are therefore a great space which the entire community can use, not only children.
It is used by the elderly who come for a cup of tea, exercise and a chat with friends and neighbours. Adults visit the centres to use the computers to look for work or write their CV’s. Ante-natal and post-natal classes take place at the centres. Below is a photo of a father who attended one of the classes in Chatsworth!
All sorts of other activities happen on a daily basis at our nine centres. One example of this is from the Chatsworth POP centre. When a resident of Chatsworth recently lost her belongings in a fire, the community dropped off donations at the POP centre. These centres are ideally placed to be the available for communities for things like this and many other activities.
We want our centres to be true community centres and invite all people to become involved in our programmes.
